# SAP on Azure: Increasing the resiliency of a leading pet care brand
Our client is one of the UK’s largest pet care businesses.
Their products and services include food, toys, bedding, and grooming services, right the way through to first opinion veterinary care and world-class specialist veterinary hospitals.
## Inflexible infrastructure
As with many businesses, our client was at an inflection point with their technology.
Their end-of-life hardware and lack of support for their operating system was causing strain on their SAP landscape.
As a result, they considered several hosting options. But, following a Proof of Concept (POC) with Microsoft Azure and Centiq, Azure won as their infrastructure of choice. They chose Centiq as the best partner to complete the SAP migration to Azure, spearheading the first workload onto the new platform.
## The journey to Azure
The project kick-off involved two workshops with the client. These acted as a discovery tool to ensure we understood the business's current estate, and what they were looking to achieve.
Our team then presented an outline of recommendations, detailing how we would work with the client's current incumbent partners (who supported the existing on-premise solution).
The first step would be a Proof of Concept. This gave our client a chance to get a better feel for the Azure platform.
In April 2020, our team built an environment, sized for the migration of their production system. Following rigorous testing, and fine-tuning of parameters in Idot processing runs, work on the live environments began in the Summer of 2020.
Centiq provisioned the Azure services along with HANA and SAP Netweaver application services. We performed system rename and all the migration activities from the on-premise systems to Azure. From here, we migrated Dev and QA in July, with the Production environment going live in August 2020.

By modernising their dated infrastructure and moving to Azure, our client increased their stability and resiliency.
Now, they have a more robust, flexible and dynamic platform that gives them the confidence to tackle changing market conditions.
